How to develop for PS4 and XBOX?

I am interested in developing for PS4 and XBOX. In Visual Studio, I do not find any option for creating a project for consoles (Windows, Linux and Mac works fine). According to the documentation, to be able to develop for consoles, one has to be a “registered developer” (http://www.monogame.net/documentation/?page=What_is_MonoGame).

What does it mean to be a registered developer? Where am I supposed to register (here or at sony/microsoft somewhere?) And how do I then start to create console projects in monogame?

Thank you

You have to register with Sony and Microsoft. That includes going through their approval process for your game concept. Once you are approved, you can get access to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One MonoGame SDK’s from somone on the MonoGame development team (they will verify that you are a registered developer).

As an aside, you can now build UWP games for Xbox One using retail Xbox One hardware. Info here:

Thank you very much for the clarification!

Is there a limit until the release of the game, i mean if it takes 2years to make my game, will I have to register each year?
And is it limited to one game after the acceptance?

You’d have to discuss that with Sony and Microsoft… They have email accounts you can send these questions to. A simple Google search will allow you to find them.
