So, are we on Nintendo's platforms yet?

Nosh? Yesh? hmm…? (:

Nothing to report yet, but we all want to be on there soon.

So is there progress happening or a timeframe? Or more on the wishlist?

As with working with any large company, most things happen in their time. There is no timeframe we can give, and cannot disclose anything we have discussed with them. We would like it to be available on all platforms, and have been but there are many pieces of the machine that must come together in order for it to work.

I take it we gave up? Nintendo has been notorious about not really doing the greatest job when working with third party developers, indies. With them leaning towards Japanese, there can be a language barrier.

If we take a look at XNA / MonoGame, we’re not exactly pushing out triple AAA games 99% of the time. However, because of a heavy focus on 2D games, we do have Nintendo nostalgia, retro, and that can resonate with their user base.

With ten million Wii U’s out in the wild, that might not be much for consoles, but Wii, 3DS are still out there. NX could be anything at this point, some are saying VR.

So, what’s the news? There was a big push for HTML5 and Unity for Wii U / 3DS. Maybe it’s time to push them towards MonoGame?

There is nothing we can say about those platforms. Yes, we’d like to see MonoGame on the Wii U and 3DS as well. A lot of it comes down to resources and time, both of which we do not have a lot of, especially when it comes to maintaining the existing MonoGame codebase as well.

Perhaps we should bombard their social media and https://developer.nintendo.com/

Gather our community and do this at a certain time. I’m thinking around E3 (June?), that way we have enough time to get on there by October / December.

For the record, 3DS has sold more than both the PS4+XB1 combined, to put things into perspective. Not sure about the Linux/Mac ecosystem, but I bet they’re almost non-existent. PS Vita is also a joke.

So, if our time and resources are limited, then platforms of priority would be Steam/Android/iPhones/PS4/3DS/XB1/And then anything else comes last.

Nintendo’s 3DS has surpassed 60 million units. Nintendo’s Wii U is only above 10 million. If we start talking with Nintendo now, we might get access to the Nintendo NX by the time it launches at the end of this year or next year.
