First of all I just want to say a big thank you to the developers for all the hard work they have done (and still are doing) on creating MonoGame!
I recently published my first game to Google Play and want to present to you a short show case of what I’ve achieved.
It took me about 2 months to create the game (on windows using XNA) and a further 3 months to properly port and test it. This included learning about MonoGame, understanding how android works, developing a touch control system for the game and figuring out how to place adverts in the Lite version.
Here is some basic information about the game, taken from the store listing:
- “Bullet Hell” type game play. Avoid the spiders to clear the stages!
- Unlock new features or mechanics each time you complete the 3 stages.
- Statistics screen. Compare your high scores with your friends!
- 8 Unique “Pick Ups” (4 unlockables). 16 Achievements to unlock.
- Gradually increasing difficulty.
- No In-app purchases.
- No Advertisements (Premium version only)
- 60 FPS on most devices.
This list differs slightly depending on the version (there’s the paid Premium version and the free Lite version). The game runs at its best on a 7"+ tablet, however it will run across a range of devices in an acceptable manor.
I’m fairly pleased with the end result for my first game, and obviously there can be a lot of improvement in certain areas. If anyone has any feed back or comments, I would love to hear them!
Thanks for reading!
