Hey Monogame Community,
I’m near the end of converting my WP7 game to iOS, and i’m trying to add in iAd Advertisements. I’ve got a simple banner add at the top of my gameplay screen, however I’ve found it can absolutely kill the FPS on the gameplay screen when the ad changes (dropping from 40-50fps to 20fps).
From what I understand it’s because of the different view types that are used, monogame is the OpenGL type and the iAd is the “normal?” type, and Apple recommends against this for performance reasons.
So my question, has anyone used iAd banner ads in their games without affecting performance? There doesn’t seem to be much discussion from my searches so i’m guessing not.
